Some of you may remember the crazypants E92 Dinan M3 I'm selling for my boss' friend from this post: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

I'm getting a lot of interest on the forums, some love on craigslist too, but nobody has put up the cash. Even had an offer for a trade with an F430 2 weeks ago and just today for a DB9 Volante. Unfortunately I can't accept trades, because those would have been AWESOME.

So, for the first time in 10 years (really bad experience selling a MKIV GTI part) I opened an eBay account, got a PayPal and listed the M3 there, link is below. Should be fun, right? Right?

Umm, what? I know a stroker motor is 20 grand but like... A 430? Really? That doesn't quite add up.

Yep first year coupe with 32k miles (maybe $90-110k at best), I didn't quite take him seriously, but it was at a car show and he was trying to save the 9.8% tax we have in WA on private sales.

He's been trying to sell it for 4 months too, lots of them out there getting unloaded for dirt cheap (comparatively) so the owners can pick up the 458 hotness.

I just got a message on eBay with another trade offer, a 2008 911 Turbo. Trades seem to be the flavor of this level of car guys to avoid sales tax and get into something new.

That sales tax is highway fucking robbery. How is that allowed to persist? There should be a referendum or something....

Anyway, incredible to hear about those trades. A 997 turbo now!? I would take that OR the 430 in a heartbeat for an E92, even with a stroker. Sounds like your friend should trade up my man! Hell, if it were me and I wanted cash instead of a trade I'd take a 430 now, enjoy it till next summer then list that pile on eBay to be snapped up by an out of state buyer. A 430 is going to enjoy a much wider market than a highly (and very specifically) modified M3. Same is true for the 997T, although it's probably PDK so meh to that anyhow =P

I thought the same thing but it's a non-starter taking on a different car. He's trying to liquidate, even if it would increase the liquid so to speak.

The 911 Turbo was a manual too.

The tax was to stop the fly-by-night side of the highway "dealers" that would float titles for years and then dump the sale onto the buyer to pay a ton of late fees. It was a massive problem up here a few years ago. Now it just makes it impossible to be a casual car flipper, the tax eats up all the potential profit.

Also, if you say buy a $20k car for $10k and go to the DOL to get the title transferred they'll blue book the car and charge you the tax for the $20k. It's BRUTAL. I'm a fleet manager and I sell cars out of my fleet ALL THE TIME for way below blue book value and I have to submit bill of sales constantly saying these were fleet work vehicles and are below standard levels of sale quality. It's INCREDIBLY annoying and I'm a bit heated about it if you couldn't tell already! haha

It'll be much easier to sell a 997 Turbo OR F430. They have a much bigger out of state market.
